Bullet Point: Castle 702 Montreal

WRITER: Andrew W Marlowe
DIRECTOR: Alrick Riley
  • A W Marlowe. Really? ;)
  • More questions than answers regarding Castle's disappearance. But according to Matt Letscher's character, it was Rick who asked to forget those two months.
  • I'm betting that that won't be the last we see of Matt's character.
  • Castle begging to be allowed to travel to Montreal is really cute. And Beckett giving in because she knows that Alexis, who volunteered to go with her dad, will keep him grounded.
  • "It's Canada! How risky could be it?" - Both of you should know. You're both born in Canada - one in the French side, one in the British side.
  • The "38" key is for a safe deposit box in a bank in Montreal. The box contained envelopes addressed to Kate, Martha, and Alexis.
  • The envelopes contain memory cards with Castle's message to each of them, all similar: that if they're watching it, he's already dead.
  • When Kate watches the message, it's just heartbreaking.
  • Something happened to Castle when he was 11 at Hollander's Woods, on a February day that made him want to write mystery novels. He told this to Matt Letscher's character but not Beckett, Martha or Alexis.
  • About four years ago, Kate asked him what drove him to write mystery novels, like she became a cop because of her mother's murder. He answered that he has seen the body of their housekeeper's son washed out on the beach, dead. He was five and they were at the Hamptons. He laughed about it and told her he made that up but there might be some truth in there.
  • The story is like Undercover Boss but it makes me remember something else, like a parable in the Bible. Something similar. But the idea escapes me.
  • Beckett talking with Lanie...she really wants to trust Castle again, 100 percent, but she can't, not until there is some closure on Castle's disappearance.
  • One month! They're putting everything wedding-related aside for a month until they're both ready, until both find solid ground. The speculations may be true: somewhere inside the alternate reality episode is when they will get married.
  • Beckett wears the engagement ring throughout the episode. She's still finding her solid ground, still wanting to believe and trust Castle.
There was also this scene where a man who supposedly know what happened in the two months he was missing meet with him. He told Rick that both of them were taken in a spaceship. It's either I've watched too much of Doctor Who or I'm starting to believe that the moon is indeed a space dragon egg about to hatch, in 2049 (807 Kill the Moon).

And there's a late sneak peek.
Sneak Peek 3

That's the end conversation between Castle and Beckett and it is really touching. I love that they're talking about it and that Beckett is finally learning to trust Castle again and that they will never give up, that she is home to him. I also love that Kate promised that she won't leave him, the same way he didn't leave her throughout her mother's case.

CASTLE: What I did to them, to you, how am I supposed to just let that go?

BECKETT: I don't know. I tried with my mum's murder. I buried it until you came along.

CASTLE: Do you think it's possible? To live with it without ever knowing?

BECKETT: Oh, Castle. This is completely different. Whatever happened to you, you already knew the truth and you decided that you didn't want to remember it anymore. And as much as we wanted to know all the answers, if you decided that, then there had to have been a reason.

CASTLE: Maybe that's why I asked them to make me forget so I could come home to you. You know what?

BECKETT: What?

CASTLE: We should get married. Tomorrow, first thing. Put all this behind us. What do you say?

BECKETT: Babe. There is nothing that I want more than to marry you, but not like this.

CASTLE: You're not ready.

BECKETT: No. We're both not ready. We're looking for solid ground and you think getting married is gonna fix the way you feel and it won't. Look, I love you and I'm here for you but we need to get some distance from all of this. We need to get back to our own lives, find solid ground together. And I promise you I'm not going anywhere. We've waited this long so let's just make it right.

CASTLE: How long?

BECKETT: A month? No expectations, no pressure. Just us. And then we'll talk about it then.

CASTLE: A month. It's a date.
There's also a new sneak peek for next week's episode, 703 Clear & Present Danger.

Sneak Peek 1

Awesome! Sexually frustrated Caskett is always the best!

There's also this gem.

This is from the television promos and someone capped it. I don't know if this is new considering that they didn't do a photoshoot this season or if they did, it's late and may be for the wedding.

Screencaps will be posted later.
