Why I Love...

Image
There are fans in Tumblr who coined the word life-ruiner. Urban Dictionary defines it as "someone who is unbelievably perfect...that most people are unworthy because of this person". In reality, they don't actually ruin your life but instead they make you want to be them. They're your role models, the ones you strive for because they believe in something. As 2013 comes to a close, I present to you my life-ruiners. 1. TINA FEY (c) Entertainment Weekly Because she proved that being a nerd is also sexy. Because she made a niche in a male-dominated TV show - becoming the first female headwriter and one of its most popular stars. Because her friendship with Amy Poehler is golden. Because she writes, she acts, she produces her own TV show/s. Because Bossypants is a terrific   fantastic  great read. Because what comes out of Alice's mouth, she puts on her show. Because Alice is probably the best child comedienne. Because she might not end up in everyone&

The Time of The Doctor

Image
IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT, SPOILERS! We all change, when you think about it. We are all different people all through our lives. And that's okay. That's good. You gotta keep moving so long as you remember all the people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this, not one day. I swear. I will always remember when The Doctor was me. Raggedy Man. Goodnight. The first face this face saw.

Nelson Mandela Dances to the Corrs Music

OMG! :'( This makes me remember about two concerts that the Corrs participated in honour of Nelson Mandela. Judging from Sharon's hair, this was around 2000/2001. The song is Irish traditional music "Haste to the Wedding", arranged by the Corrs. Seo a dhéanann dom cuimhneamh ar dhá cheolchoirm go bhfuil the Corrs páirt in onóir Nelson Mandela. Mholtóireacht ón ghruaig Sharon, ba é seo thart ar 2000/2001. Is é an amhrán, ar cheol traidisiúnta Gaeilge "Haste to the Wedding", Shocraigh ag the Corrs.

Beckett Gives Castle His Own Drawer

I'm bringing this up again because I have another explanation. The drawer, whilst being romantic and all, is also a symbol of Kate opening up and tearing down the walls she had built for herself.  Remember that she and Castle were only dating for about six months at this point.  I doubt if she ever did that to Will, Tom or Josh, who was so far the longest relationship we've known before Castle (not counting the wild child phase she had before her mum was killed). It is also her way of telling Castle that she truly loves him without saying anything (the first time she told him she loves him was in  Still , some time after this episode). It is sweet and a great character development.

On the End Scene of Castle 609: Disciple

The majority said that Kate is scared because she finds out that 3XK is alive and is out there to get them. But that look is not of fear but pure, sheer, and utter terror. I've never seen that look before on Kate. My take is that the song means something to her: it was her parents' theme song or it was played at her mum's funeral or it's her mum's favourite song. And the way that Castle looked at her tells that he knows it too. Remember, Castle is the only person Kate opened up to and we don't know what happened behind the scenes. The lyrics also have something that says that it's not that 3XK will be back because we know he is. The message of the song is tell my loved ones that I'm happy wherever I am and that we will meet again. All of the 3XK files are missing from the files room and 26 other unsolved cases. What if of the 26, one included Johanna Beckett's file? Beckett, Castle, Espo, and Ryan solved Beckett's mum's murder (Sena

The Coney Island Stick Man Convention: Why I Love Detective Beckett

Image
"He's a reminder. That even on the worst days, there's a possibility for joy." - Detective Kate Beckett, on why she keeps a stick man in her desk drawer ( Season 5 Episode 3 :  Secret's Safe With Me ) Credit: Castle-Fans.org I loved Castle from the moment I watched the pilot. I did this in July of this year and normally I would have finished watching in say two or three weeks, a month tops. I finished in a week, 105 episodes, five seasons. I love both characters - Richard Castle and Detective Kate Beckett - but I was drawn to Beckett more. Beckett is a strong character, yet she's also vulnerable making her flawed. Her story maybe like any of us: her mum, Johanna, was stabbed in an alley and was written off as random gang violence only to find out a decade later that she was murdered because of dirty cops. She entered the NYPD to see the discrepancies on the case but seeing nothing, she stopped until Castle, nosy as he is, came along and secretly

Castle: Time Will Tell ♥

I posted this in the smorgasbord Tumblr first. Added some more thoughts. Contains, as River Song says “Spoilers!” OH. MY. GOD. This episode of Castle is incredibly, fabulously, fantastically, brilliantly AWESOME!!!! Taking the words of The Doctor - it’s a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff. My Whovian heart soared when Esposito mentioned the sonic screwdriver. And apparently, Beckett becomes a senator and she and Castle will have three children. AAAAHHHH!! My OTP! ♥ ♥ ♥ My Whovian heart questions this though…so this timeline is flux? Because if you travel back and tell your past self something in the future that is a fixed point, some kind of paradox thingy will occur or something horrible will happen in that future just because a small thing was changed in the past. Examples are Bowie Base One in Mars in  The Waters of Mars  and the Lake Silencio incident all throughout Series 6. In  The Angels Take Manhattan , Amy and Rory created a paradox but was sent back in the

My Wicked Movie Dream Cast

Image
I first posted this in my smorgasbord Tumblr and as my Facebook status. Please do remember that this is just a dream cast since these musicals are being Hollywood-ised (is that even a word? x) ). I still don't have Morrible, Dillamond, and the other supporting cast. This may not be popular opinion and many will probably be against it but I think I found my bets for movie Elphaba and G(a)linda: Stana Katic and Anne Hathaway. Arthur Darvill can be Fiyero. Can Nessarose be Michelle Federer or Cecily Strong? Taran Killam can be Boq. Joel Grey can be The Wizard again. I know it's still like how many years before this wonderful musical can be made into a film because it's still a big hit on Broadway, National Tours, West End, and international versions and my dream cast will probably deemed as old but so far, in my mind, these are the best bets. Oh yes! Stana can sing, for those who are wondering. From what I've read, she's a mezzo - same as Idina Menzel. If you&#

Always...Castle

There's this site I'm a member of that gives away stickers of shows. This is where I first came to know a television show called Castle . I had never watched it until a week ago. I finished in like seven days. All five seasons. The fastest marathon I did. I used to be a sticker hoarder, which is what we call the collectors, but lately I've been keeping only those sets I like. And the Castle  set I kept. It all started when I watched some San Diego Comic Con videos. One of them obviously is  Nerd HQ 's  Doctor Who  panel. It was moderated by Nathan Fillion, who I only knew because my friends watched  Firefly . It was a fun panel! Then I was drawn on watching Nathan's own panel. And I discovered that he is the most generous person. He held auctions so that the money could be donated to the charity that Zachary Levi supports, which at the moment escapes my mind. That's when I said that I would begin to watch  Castle . I don't know why I was never inter

The 12th Doctor

Image
Is Peter Capaldi. (c) BBC It's a very interesting choice, too. As every Whovian knows, Peter played Caecilius in the Tenth Doctor episode The Fires of Pompeii (S04E02)  and played John Frobisher in the spin-off Torchwood Children of Earth . It's going to be awesome though because Peter is a great actor. I just wonder how the writers will play off this incarnation of The Doctor since he was already in an episode plus the spin-off. Also, if, and only if, Captain Jack Harkness will be back, I wonder how he will react when he sees Doctor Number 12. It's probably just a case of another wibbly, wobbly, timey, wimey stuff. This is also my 12th post so it's probably destiny , fate , a coincidence.

14 Hours To Go

Image
Until the new Doctor is unveiled. Really excited! Image from Tumblr As I've said previously, Matt's regeneration will be my first real time regeneration. So, this reveal will be my first, too. I'll just catch it in the news immediately after the announcement as I'm pretty sure it won't be broadcast here (it's going to be on Monday, 2a my time). I don't have any actor in mind although I do hope that it will not be a really well-known one. Let him bask in the glory of being the Doctor. ;) Let the Doctor be ginger though. He'll be very happy.

Remembering 1990

Image
Today marks the 23rd year of the 7.8M earthquake Luzon island in the Philippines in the afternoon of 16 July 1990. I was seven, in first grade, just a month in my new school (classes here start in June). Our class were dismissed and our group was the assigned cleaners of the day so we were left in the classroom by ourselves. We have been scrubbing the blackboard with glee, singing the song we learnt in Music class that day. Me and classmate, who I remember vividly, went to dust off the eraser when suddenly she stared at me and said calmly, "Gumagalaw ang lupa (The ground is moving.)." We were first graders so we do not know what exactly was happening, just the ground moving. After realising what that meant, we screamed and went inside our classroom, to our classmates, nearby until the teacher of the morning session possibly heard us, as the Faculty Room were a few feet from our classroom, went to us to calm us down and told us exactly what happened. Our class adviser, who wa

The Most Noble Lady in the Universe

Image
Everybody has their favourite Doctor or favourite companion in Doctor Who . My first Doctor is actually Matt Smith, the Eleventh Doctor. I never had any intention of watching the series, frankly, but then I learned from two of my friends, who are Whovians, which is what fans of the show, that Neil Gaiman wrote an episode. So I persuaded them if I can see it without seeing the previous episodes. I fell in love after watching The Doctor's Wife . Now, my Doctor is David Tennant, the Tenth Doctor. My favourite companion is Donna Noble, with Sarah Jane a close second. For me, Donna is one of the best companions, if not the best (over SJ. Sorry Lis!). Her story is a very tragic one compared to the other reboot (2005) companions - Rose is in the parallel universe with her own Doctor, the Ponds, despite being "assassinated" by the Weeping Angels to 1930s New York, had lived a very happy life even if The Doctor cannot see them anymore because of the paradox, adopted a boy, an
This again appeared in my personal Tumblr dated 25 May 2013. Updated. Dear Mr Tolentino, Greetings and peace in the Holy Spirit! You may not know me. I am a mere citizen of the country. I admire you for the work you have done in our metropolis. I also admire you that you answer to almost every call of the media to answer questions and problems. However, your actions in the past week disappointed me. You see, I'm also an avid reader and fan of Mr Dan Brown. In Mr Brown's book,  Inferno , it was said that Manila, the most densely populated city in the world, is the "gates of hell". I think you have taken it out of context. It was mentioned as such because it was the personal feeling of the character. You deemed it as a description of Manila in general but I don't. We all experience our personal "hell", as simple as in our own houses. Don't we all call our homes "hell" when something bad happens? I think this is what was depi

Thank you, Raggedy Man!

I first posted this in my personal Tumblr. Or the Tumblr where I want to speak my mind. Because my other one is just a smorgasbord of what and who I like. It's just like Christmas. Photo credits: WhoIsMattSmith.com / Entertainment Weekly Because his will be the first real regeneration I will experience. Thank you very much, Raggedy Man! I will truly miss you. You brought a new vibe to Doctor Who. It's not easy to take over David, who, until now, is said to be the best Doctor, Yes, David's may be my Doctor but you are my first. I will never forget it: you and Idris (Sexy!), trying to save Rory and Amy from House. That was the episode that made me a Whovian. Thank you!
