All Roads Lead To Being For Good

Image
21 September 2025, my friend and I saw this standee before we watched The Sound of Music My Wicked journey began when I heard the song "Defying Gravity" in the television show Glee in 2009/2010. My online mates told me that I should listen to the original and I searched for it. It was glorious! And it was Idina Menzel , whom I’ve been a fan of since seeing Rent the Movie in 2006. I’ve searched bootlegs of the show in YouTube and watched them over and over. I’ve watched clips of different Elphaba actors. I’ve also watched "Popular" clips. By then, I was obssessulated with the musical. I also read the book, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West  by Gregory Maguire , which was very different from the show. Though I missed the CCP run of the musical in 2013 (I missed out on seeing Jemma Rix , a favourite Elphie), I was able to watch during the Solaire run when the UK touring company went back in Manila in 2017 (Jacqueline Hughes was amazing!). A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE IS WORTH IT

Image
Poster, credit: National Theatre Live website Finally gathered my thoughts in order, I think, after watching National Theatre Live's (in partnership with the Cultural Centre of the Philippines) A Streetcar Named Desire with Gillian Anderson as Blanche DuBois, Vanessa Kirby as Stella Kowalski, and Ben Foster as Stanley Kowalski on Tuesday, 24 June at Glorietta 4. For full disclosure, yes I watched because Gillian. I heard the others discussing the characters and story; probably students. I never watched the film - we have a VCD of it because my mum likes Marlon Brando - nor have I read the book. I came in armed with the knowledge of what I read in Wikipedia. I do know that I want to see this because, again, Gillian. And we rarely get to see plays or musicals filmed and released in theatres. I didn't know that: 1. CCP is partnered with NTL; 2. NTL released this particular play during the pandemic in their YouTube channel; and 3. I always see Fleabag - which I also love and got ...

Left Me Breathless for the Second Time

Image
19 March 2023. I never worried so much in my life. This day was the first day of selling of my favourite band's concert tickets, the Corrs. They have been my favourite since I was in high school. I've seen them before, though, but they have not been in the Philippines since then. In 2000, they announced that the Corrs would be having a Valentine concert at the Araneta Coliseum. Unfortunately for me, it was sudden so I didn't manage to save up for it so I knew I was going to miss it. Come January, they announced that the concert would be postponed at a later date because Andrea, the lead singer, contracted an ear infection. Those who purchased tickets should hold on to their tickets or refund them. Some chose to hold on to them, some chose to refund them. When they did, it opened some more seats so they sold more tickets. I just had my 18th birthday and because we didn't have any means to have a grand debut party, I asked if I could instead see and hear the Corrs live, n...

The Hardest Day - Chloé, mon chat bien-aimé

Image
11 December 2020. A day I will now always remember because I made a huge decision: a decision between a life of pain and suffering and life without pain and eventual suffering. Earlier this year, in June, we lost our indoor cat, Missy. It was a very hard blow especially to my sister, her main mama, because she had been with us for nearly 13 years. It left us with one cat, Chloe, who stays outdoor. He (named before he was sexed) was sort of a rescue, a domestic shorthair/moggie/puspin, with my other previous feral, Boq, catnapping him. You know, like a cat who brings home gifts to his family. Boq did that with Chloe in 2016. I didn't even know where he got this wee, four- to six-week-old kitten. But unlike Boq, Chloe never left our property for fear that he might end up like our other adopted ferals, just lost. He was very healthy despite not having any vaccinations and dewormed just twice. Until he got his common colds in August. Chloe, a year or a few months ago I have been in a n...

So I Recently Watched LOST...Finally

Image
LOST (Credit: Evangeline Lilly Network) Because I ran out of Evangeline Lilly things. Haha! I first saw her act in Real Steel  back in 2011 - because I didn't let any Hugh Jackman film slip through until it became so many >.< - though I knew her from the show. Then came The Hobbit  films and Ant-man  and Ant-Man and the Wasp , my favourite Marvel Cinematic Universe film because Wasp.♥ I love Wasp before I even binged on all things Evangeline! I don't know why I love Wasp but she's awesome! (My other two MCU faves are Black Panther  and Doctor Strange .) I really never had any intention of watching the show mainly because I heard of reviews/comments, whilst positive, said that you will indeed get lost in LOST . It's a little discouraging. But as Hope said, It's about damn time.

Whiskey Cavalier Deserves A Lot More Than What It Got

Image
In your lifetime, there are many shows you will love and be entertained with. FRIENDS , 30 Rock , Doctor Who are for me to name a few. Sometimes, you get invested in those shows that you want to be in them and want to protect and envelop them in a bubble because you relate to the characters or because they make you happy every week. I had three, let's just say, that I literally got emotionally attached to, shows where you will cry over every small thing that happens to the characters. These three are Parks and Recreation , Castle , and most recently, and was a surprise, Whiskey Cavalier .

Laugh Hard. Run Fast. Be Kind.

This series of Doctor Who is plagued with whiners. Ever since I became a fan, with The Doctor’s Wife being my entry point, I’ve never heard so many complaints regarding the season or the actor playing The Doctor. It was always “I love Capaldi!” or “I love Matt!” I’ve only seen a handful of those this time. Honestly, I really don’t know why if it’s because it’s a female, portrayed brilliantly by Jodie Whittaker, or it’s because it hits nerves.

The Doctor: An Inspiration And Her First Test

Image
The new series of Doctor Who  premiered a few weeks ago and I'm soooooo ecstatic that it really turned out well. Jodie Whittaker's take on the Time Lord reminds me very much of Christopher Eccleston's and David Tennant's Doctors. The feel of the episodes and the stories are just like when I was introduced to the show, backtracking episodes, sometime in 2012. I also like the design of her TARDIS and also reminds me of the aforementioned Doctors. The opening sequence where their names appear is also awesome though it doesn't have the spinning TARDIS although I think I can see some Gallifreyan writing through the spinning swirls. Nothing much happened in her first two episodes, technically, as we were just getting introduced to the rest of the team - Ryan, Yaz, and Graham - and, of course, finding her TARDIS, her Ghost Monument. We were also introduced to Grace in the first episode. She was Ryan's nan/grandma. She was a caretaker and had a no-nonse...

Doctor Who Full Panel At San Diego Comic Con 2018

Image
Thank you to the Doctor Who  YouTube channel for uploading the entirety of the panel. I love Jodie ever since St Trinian's  and I'm so ecstatic during the reveal that she is the new Doctor. Best of luck to Jodie and I'm so excited to watch your first episode!! Also, I love this part of the panel (I've taken the Uhs, Uhms, You Know, etc and paraphrased/shortcut the questions when I transcribed it): Question:  Any girl things for The Doctor? Jodie:  The thing about this role, which is why it's so amazing for any actor to play the role, is that essentially gender is irrelevant and that's completely liberating. As a woman, who isn't a genre, it's just a woman, I've never approached a role from thinking "How would a woman do this?" I've just done it from my perspective. But the wonderful thing about playing The Doctor is I'm playing an alien so all those rules are kind of irrelevant to the approach but what you do notice [is] sometimes w...

A Thank You Letter To MilMar

Image
From Stana' s Instagram Dear Andrew and Terri, I am writing this letter to say THANK YOU for giving us the show Castle . It has touched so many lives in the eight years of its existence. It certainly had a huge impact in mine even if I’m late watching it. THANK YOU for bringing us to the universe of Castle and Beckett. It’s a wonderful love story that will rival even the love stories of yore. I have never seen anything like it. It’s surreal yet real. It’s a fairy tale yet true. It’s fiction but it’s fact. It’s a very unique storytelling, one that will get you engaged all throughout their courtship, their friendship. Borrowing the words of Merida, their relationship became “ as much a part of us as we are of it .” THANK YOU for creating these characters that had us laugh, frustrated, annoyed, cry. Every week, these characters made us feel like we’re their friends. They made us feel like we’re part of the show, solving cases, running after suspec...

An Equation Won't Have A Solution If A Variable Is Missing

Image
I never imagined using this gif in this sense. As many now know, Stana Katic, who plays Captain Kate Beckett in the ABC’s police procedural Castle , won’t be returning if and when the show gets a ninth and, possibly, final season. I won’t go into details since it has been in several media outlets because I don’t want to tarnish anything this show and this character has done to me and Stana had already tweeted about it. See, I came to the fandom five years late. I was watching NERD HQ’s Doctor Who panel which was moderated by Nathan Fillion. I was drawn to his panel in turn and from that, I thought hm…why not watch Castle . So I did. First let me give you a background. There was this website, called GetGlue, which gave out free stickers of shows, books, movies, etc. ABC was a partner so Castle was included in their sticker roster . This was around 2011/12. You had to check-in to the show when it’s airing to get the sticker. I remember very well a Yahoo TV! sticker ...

Understanding Kate Beckett - A fan’s analysis on why Kate Beckett wants some distance from husband, Richard Castle

A/N: Originally published in three parts at Voice Of TV . Edited for clarity and correctness (called being a bit OC :) ). Castle ’s eighth season opened up with one half of our married, crime-solving duo, newly minted captain of the 12 th Precinct Kate Beckett and famous mystery novelist Richard Castle, missing. It started out as Rick looking for and worrying where his wife was. Turns out that Kate was being chased by several mercenaries connected to Bracken and some project (or someone) called LOCKSAT. It led to her decision to leave the loft and the happy life she’s living with her husband. It broke the hearts of millions of Caskett fans around the globe. The outcome of the second episode, the second part of the season opener, and story arc, is now much-debated in various platforms across the web. Others are calling it quits just because they only watched for the couple. Others are blaming the writers and new showrunners, Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley, not really k...

Castle Season 8 Promo

Image
Finally! The new Castle promo is here! This has scenes from the upcoming season premiere. Okay, what the hell is that thingamajig that has Always written on it? It seems that Kate is on the run again and "leaves" Castle to keep him safe. Please, PLEASE, leave Kate alone. The girl is happy being married and all to the love of her life! lol I'm excited now! Two more Mondays and we get to see the season premiere! AAAAAAHHHHH!!! The first episode is called XY and the second is XX . A two-parter premiere like two seasons ago. The first is told in Rick's point of view and the second, Kate's. Yeah, that's what the titles are. Not Caskett babies. I wouldn't say no to little Caskett babies but let the TPTB put it in their story organically. Don't force it.

What Happened?

I haven't posted since the December Winter Hiatus because I'm super busy with work. Especially now. But I'll be writing stuff for a website which I am excited about. It's awesome! It may not be for Castle , though, but it will be for shows that I watch and excited about this fall. I will also be doing something with a friend of mine, like a He Says, She Says thing except it's a She Says, She Says on Doctor Who . Both of us are huge fans of the long-running sci-fi show. We'll be voicing our opinions, whether I like it or she doesn't and vice versa. :) Hopefully I'll be seeing you in the fall!

I Apparently Forgot These...

Image
They're in a different folder than the gifs since these are screencaptures. More of Kate's expressions in 709 Last Action H er o .  Did I say that it was a landmine of her expressions?   I will post the bullet point for 710 Bad Santa later. Dee

Bullet Point: Castle 709 Last Action Hero

Image
I know I didn't do last episode. I actually didn't feel like it because I didn't like it too much. It's not the story itself but how it was " w eav ed" . And it has discrepancies. But I'm here for the story and the entertainment. :) And this is late. Quite busy. On with our program. WRITER : Christine Roum   DIRECTOR : Paul Holahan

Bullet Point: Castle 707 Once Upon A Time in the West

Image
WRITER : Terrence Paul Winter   DIRECTOR : Alrick Riley Oops! A bit delayed. But here is my new bullet point. I'll put everything under the cut for possible spoilers (why haven't you watched it yet?!) or because of all the cuteness! ;)

Idina Menzel & Michael Bublé - Baby It's Cold Outside

Aw! This is uber-cute! From Idina's Christmas album, Holiday Wishes .

Sneak Peeks

Image
ABC released a screener this weekend for Castle 's Monday's episode - 7 07 Once Upon A T ime in the West - and spoilers abound but no. I didn't see much of the spoilers except for the last scene which is super cute ( Oh noes! I didn't see the screener and I'm pretty okay with it. I want to be just as excited as those who haven't seen it . :) ). A tribute to Old West films. Actually, it makes me remember 414 The Blue Butterfly end scene except... ;) Anyway, two more sneak peeks. The first is not of great quality, though but the audio is clear.
