Why I Love...

There are fans in Tumblr who coined the word life-ruiner. Urban Dictionary defines it as "someone who is unbelievably perfect...that most people are unworthy because of this person". In reality, they don't actually ruin your life but instead they make you want to be them. They're your role models, the ones you strive for because they believe in something. As 2013 comes to a close, I present to you my life-ruiners.

1. TINA FEY
(c) Entertainment Weekly
Because she proved that being a nerd is also sexy. Because she made a niche in a male-dominated TV show - becoming the first female headwriter and one of its most popular stars. Because her friendship with Amy Poehler is golden. Because she writes, she acts, she produces her own TV show/s. Because Bossypants is a terrific fantastic great read. Because what comes out of Alice's mouth, she puts on her show. Because Alice is probably the best child comedienne. Because she might not end up in everyone's most beautiful list but she showed us that sense of humour in a person makes that person absolutely beautiful.

2. AMY POEHLER
 (c) Paper Magazine
As above, her friendship with Tina Fey is absolutely golden. Because she played Mrs George to Rachel McAdams' Regina in Mean Girls when she was 32 and Rachel was 25. Because she's the only woman who founded New York's improv theatre, Upright Citizens Brigade. Because her impressions are just the tip of the iceberg. Because she is one-third of the Chipettes. Because she wrote one of the most beautiful, fake campaign speeches on TV (in Parks and Recreation's The Debate, which she also directed). Because her big laugh is infectious. Because she brought her own style of comedy in a male-dominated TV show and she didn't fucking care if you like it.

3. KRISTEN WIIG
(c) Marie Claire
Because she came to Saturday Night Live in the middle of the season and became it's best breakout star, earning an Academy Award nomination whilst still in the show. Because she was brave enough to leave the show when her star is rising thus becoming the last female cast member under the Tina Fey "regime". Because you don't know what her real hair colour is. Because Bridesmaids proved that an all-female cast comedy movie can be just as bankable as The Hangover (and be nominated for several awards). Because Gilly is awesome.

4. STANA KATIC
CBGB premiere, Los Angeles
Because her Alternative Travel Project is making a difference in the world. Because she makes great red carpet poses. Because she's not scared to make fun of herself on the red carpet. Because her facial expressions are heaven the best hence the subject of many a gif maker in Tumblr. Because she's an adventurer and would probably go on a spacewalk if permitted. Because she ships her own TV relationship - fans call her Queen Shipper - proving that even as an actress, you can be a fan of your own character's relationship. Because she had thought about what her character is like. Because her smile and her laugh are adorable. Because she's the most underrated actress without a big award. Because she acts with her eyes. Because her Twitter feed is like its own show. Because she's probably a princess, like a certain Disney Princess with archery skills.

I love these actresses because all of them are strong and independent females. But I think, what makes them role models for me is that, even with the glitz and glamour of being a celebrity, they are grounded. Their fans matter to them and their private life stays private. They're not like the celebrities who will do anything just to get publicity. And because, just like us, they're also fans.
