The Wedding Dress

By now, we know that Richard Castle and Kate Beckett will get married in September and we've all seen the wedding dress. Or maybe that's what they want us to think, about the dress. From reading the press release for the episode Dressed to Kill, airing on 27 January, the dress is part of the runway outfits that models wear for show and that Frances Fisher's character, Matilda, is just helping Kate choose.

Remember in Season 7 of FRIENDS, the episode The One With the Cheap Wedding Dress, Monica had shown a picture of the wedding dress she liked to Rachel and Phoebe and would get it off-the-rack (because they're spending all their money on the wedding itself). It was this dress:

Yet, it wasn't the dress that she wore, and wanted, to their wedding in the season finale, The One With Monica and Chandler's Wedding. It was this:

Even if the initial dress she wanted was traded so that she can book the band Chandler wanted (she had a row with a lady who also wanted that dress), I think it was a ruse to keep fans waiting until the season finale itself to see the entire look of Monica in a wedding dress.

Frankly, am not a big fan of Kate's dress. It is beautiful (and according to Castle costume designer Luke Reichle, it amounts upward of $30K), yes, but it should lose the poofy taffeta and organza "train". It's un-Beckett like, unless it's the eccentric side of Beckett that we are seeing. It does look wonderful on her, and on Stana herself, but it doesn't fit the character.

A great wedding dress for Kate will have to be Frozen's Elsa's initial snow queen dress*, in pure white.

It fits Beckett's character more plus she'll feel and look like a queen.

I saw something in Facebook a couple of days ago though. I think Luke is designing another white gown and posted pictures of it. It looks more like a wedding dress. So hopefully, that's the final look.

*The final snow queen gown, the one that we saw in the movie, is more sheath, less flowing like the concept art with a slit by the right leg. The train/cape is also shorter and more transparent, lace-y.
